pidgin-festival software package provides pidgin plugin to hear incoming messages using voice synthesis, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pidgin-festival
pidgin-festival is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pidgin-festival package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pidgin-festival *
You will get with pidgin-festival package name, version, architecture and description in a table
